guided translation

I am a teacher in English teaching intermediate level English for classes of teengers. I am now teaching my students to write by giving translation exercise (Chinese to English) in the class. I use a book with many Chinese short stories with English translation of the text.
In the handout, give the students:

1.The Chinese (source language) text of a story
2.A list of questions in English on the text guiding them to translate the text. (Answers should be in full sentences)

Do remind students that there is no model answer. And there is no need to be a strict word-to-word translation.

Every one in the class, including those very bad with English, can come up with something. This exercise let them achieve sense of satisfaction. Try it.
