Teaching phonics can be boring for the kids as well as the teacher, so I've found it helps to get a little crazy in class.
All you need for this game is some sturdy alphabet cards. Ready?
Jump up and start flinging cards all around the class room, reviewing each letter's sound as you go. (The students are absolutely amazed the first time this happens).
After the last card has flown, the students can stand up and get ready. You make the sound of the letter, and the kids run madly around finding that card. Whoever has the most cards at the end is the winner, of course.
This is great practice, and pin-points trouble letters. Plus it's easy to modify this activity to your unique class.
