Have you ever tried analyzing a short story, poem or other kinds of literature using boardgames? I have and students have found it useful and I've found they speak a lot!
Simply build a board and randomly post "signs" around it. I've tried it with some of these "signs":
"The male charater I liked best. Why?"
"A tense moment,"
"Love"
"A different ending"
Students progress along the board and stop at the different signs according to the number they rol l on the dice. Then they have two minutes to expand on the "sign." I first included this idea in TESOL's 'New Ways in Using Drama and Literature.'
